The deal, which was first revealed by FanDuel's "Bussin' With The Boys," includes $40 million in guaranteed money, with a $35 million signing bonus, solidifying Kittle as the highest-paid tight end in the NFL. The 49ers officially confirmed the signing on Tuesday morning.

Speculation arose when Kittle did not attend the team's voluntary workouts last week, leading many to believe he was holding out for a new contract. However, his presence with the team on Friday indicated that negotiations had taken a positive turn.

The veteran player will now have an additional four years added to his existing contract, potentially keeping him with the 49ers until the 2029 season.

"In 2017, our first year with the 49ers, we selected a skinny tight end from Iowa whom we were really excited about. We had high hopes, but no one knew that he would become the player that he is today," said Niners GM John Lynch in a statement.

Lynch praised Kittle's leadership, passion for the game, and his involvement with the team and community. He described Kittle as an exceptional representative for the organization both on and off the field.

Now that Kittle's extension is finalized, the 49ers will shift their focus to securing a new contract for quarterback Brock Purdy.
