Trump praised Means' credentials and potential in a Truth Social post, leading to speculation about her role in shaping America's health policies. This announcement came as Trump withdrew his initial pick, Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, due to conflicting views.

Means, a Stanford-educated physician and author, co-founded Levels, a glucose monitoring tech company. Alongside her brother Calley Means, she has been a vocal supporter of RFK Jr.'s "Make America Health Again" platform, advocating for addressing chronic diseases.

Despite her qualifications, Means has faced criticism from prominent conservative figures like Laura Loomer and Nicole Shanahan. Loomer accused Means of being a part of a Marxist takeover within the MAHA movement, while Shanahan expressed disappointment and questioned the nomination process.
