A federal judge expresses concern that a 2-year-old Louisiana girl and U.S. citizen may have been deported to Honduras this week with her mother and 11-year-old sister without proper process, according to court documents obtained by CBS News.

Judge Terry Doughty for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana ordered Friday, expressing "strong suspicion that the Government just deported a U.S. citizen with no meaningful process."

The immigration status of the girl's family remains unclear. The girl was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in January 2023, according to the filing. CBS News has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department for comment.

A petition filed by Trish Mack, a friend of the girl's mother, details the family's detention by ICE agents during a routine check-in, leading to their deportation to Honduras.

Efforts are being made to prevent the deportation of the two daughters, with a hearing scheduled for May 16 in the case.
The Trump administration's immigration policies have faced heavy criticism, including the recent mistaken deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador.
