Kenya's Sabastian Sawe used strategic tactics to secure the victory in the elite men's division of the London Marathon, while Ethiopia's Tigst Assefa broke the women's-only world record by 26 seconds.

Assefa, the 28-year-old Olympic silver medalist, crossed the finish line in 2:15:50, surpassing the previous women's-only record of 2:16:16 set by Kenyan Peres Jepchirchir in London the previous year.
Assefa attributed her success to the warmer temperatures during the race, stating that the weather was more favorable compared to the previous year. Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya finished second in 2:18:44, maintaining her strong performances in London.
Sawe clinched the men's title in 2:02:27, with Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda coming in second. The London Marathon continues to be a popular event, with over 56,000 participants this year.
Switzerland dominated the wheelchair events, with Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner claiming victory in their respective categories. The London Marathon sets the stage for thrilling competition and record-breaking performances.
